Ivan Mitchell - Golf Guide Extraordinaire
Ivan Mitchell is as passionate about golf as a person can be. He established GolfTourNZ not only as a lifestyle venture but to share his enthusiasm for the game with others and to help people pursue their passion for golf.

It is his passion that ensures all tours with GolfTourNZ are full of lively and memorable experiences. Ivan is married, with two children and several grandchildren all of whom support his love of the game.

"...My family are great, they support my passion for golf and are with me all the way on this one. My son plays on a better handicap than I do . He's gonna want to take over the business one day, for sure..."
Ivan Mitchell, soccer fan turned golf fanatic. Here to help you pursue your passion for golf

Born 1947 in Thurnscoe, South Yorkshire, England - Ivan's first sporting passion was football. He played for the Sheffield United Reserve team until becoming a Metallurgist and beginning work in the steel industry.
In 1980 Ivan emigrated to New Zealand with his wife and two children where he was responsible for setting up a steel factory in Avondale, Auckland.

Between 1981 - 1994 Ivan continued to play football for Papatoetoe and Metro College teams. He coached an Auckland representative team from 1987 - 1994 and in 1992 was assistant coach to the New Zealand Under 17 team that had a twelve match tour in Hawaii and England.

In the early years Ivan played "...golf as a nomad..." and continued to work in the Avondale area. Ivan spent 20 years working at the factory he helped to establish, and is very keen to pursue his passion for Golf.

"...My favourite golf course is probably Wairakei but then I love the Walton Club and I've been a member at the Te Kauwhata Club for over ten years. For me it's about the people who play there rather than the course itself. They are some of the friendliest people I have ever met..."

New Zealand golf is a fun, social affair, competitive at times yes, but no matter where you play you'll be welcomed by the locals. So although he can't fortell how your game will play out he can assure you that people and the scenery are outstanding.
